Delia Derbyshire Day 2017
Delia Derbyshire found music in every sound she heard. From the terrifying thrum of the bombs falling on her home city of Coventry when she was a child, through the endlessly-varying tonalities of the human voice, to the sounds of wild animals and the internal combustion engine.

…this is a great mix…right from the start and its intro sample of Cabaret Voltaire from back in 1982 itself sampled from an episode of the 1960s Outer Limits TV show, Veronica Vasicka is a photographer, musician, DJ and founder/head honcho of the epic record label and on-line music resource Minimal Wave – the label of choice for synth-wave reissues and deep contemporary electronic sounds – and she knows exactly what she is doing here – if I could only change one thing, apart from getting her another white wine, it would be to replace the Boiler Room dancers with the dancers from the 1981 video of the DAF track in the comments that also features in remix form in Veronica’s set – there are so many good tracks I have added the playlist and some other linkage in the comments
Minimal Wave Records – Check out the catalog and definitely checkl out the forum.
“Founded by Veronica Vasicka in 2005, Minimal Wave has done the invaluable work of historical recovery, unearthing an entire subgenre for a new generation. Emerging from the brief postpunk moment of the late 1970s and early 1980s and created by a loose network of like-minded musicians in home studios scattered across Europe, Minimal Wave found the impulses of the early avant-gardes reanimated with help of analog synths.” – Mark Owens
