She Moves Through the Fair

Video created for a Sandy Denny demo of the traditional folk ghost story song, “She Moves Through the Fair”. Sound quality is poor, as it was in the original- I believe Sandy recorded this at home in 1967. To me, this just adds to its dug-out-of-the-peat ambience; you can find it on various records including “Borrowed Thyme”. Source footage comes from both public domain versions of “The Fall of the House of Usher”, which can be found on the archive.org. – The Mystery Machine

Episode 62 is hosted by Claude Mono.

Julianna Barwick starts the show with some choral soundscapes created through her loops and layers of her voice and just a guitar pedal. Some dark folk follows including a very subtle remix of The Wicker Man classic Willow’s Song only just touched by Pocketknife and the creepy folk-scapes of Ebon Lore and The Hare and the Moon. There are beautiful 90s  indie folk sounds from Damon and Naomi (of Galaxie 500 fame) with collaborators Japan psych folksters Ghost. Claude then briefly explores the new ‘based on’ sub-genre as perfected by young lo-fi beat maker extraordinaire Clams Casino doing his thing to Bjork. As the show drifts towards 2 hours there are some lush strings and pristine vocals from the North Sea Radio Orchestra, a classic Mamas and The Papas track, a Numero lost folk classic… and then all too soon the Golden Apples is over…

Tristan Gibbs presents some very beautiful music on Episode 61 of the Golden Apples of the Sun, selected for your listening pleasure and broadcast live from the studios of RTRFM

The Seasons…”Originally made as part of the BBC’s Drama Workshop broadcasts, this album was meant for educational purposes. Coming in the later period of what is commonly known and remembered as “Music and Movement” or “Movement and Mime Classes”, the album was issued briefly as a teaching aid for the modern thinking 1960s classroom. The idea was to play the album and get the school children to dance, improvise, think and create to the sounds and words” More Here
