The Golden Apples of the Sun Radio Show

Radio Show – 22 November 2015 – Episode 246

The reclusive Probehead curates his last episode of the Golden Apples as he will be taking a break to explore new musical projects. This show has some beautiful sounds and will leave your head tingling with an Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. We thank Probehead for his hauntological, folkloric and baroque excursions that have helped to pattern the show.

Probehead presents this edition of The Golden Apples of the Sun

Listen Here

About Probehead: The Probehead moniker is itself derived from a phrase in Deleuze and Guattari, which suggests that the ongoing and iterative interaction of people and machines has meant that we are already well on the way to becoming something other than human. We are becoming a society of probeheads…

About the Clientele’ and the track Losing Haringey: It grabs you instantly as you realize that this is hardly a song, but a story. The narrative is told in speaking voice over a beautiful Clientele soundscape, punctuated periodically with a wordless la-la chorus… A lot of people have asked (and painfully mis-transcribed), so here are the words for Losing Haringey:

“In those days, there was a kind of fever that pushed me out of the front door, into the pale, exhaust-fumed park by Broadwater Farm or the grubby road that eventually leads to Enfield: turkish supermarket after chicken restaurant after spare car part shop. Everything in my life felt like it was coming to a mysterious close: I could hardly walk to the end of a street without feeling there was no way to go except back. The dates I’d had that summer had come to nothing, my job was a dead end and the rent cheque was killing me a little more each month. It seemed unlikely that anything could hold much longer. The only question left to ask was what would happen after everything familiar collapsed, but for now the summer stretched between me and that moment…” the rest is to be found here

Jade Nobbs is your curator. He said this of his show but actually before he did it…

“I’m presenting the Golden Apples of the Sun show later today, 2-4pm, on RTRFM 92.1, which is one of my favourite aesthetic pursuits of like, all time.I’m going to play all manner of things, but this tasty bit of neo-psych-folk from the 1980s will be in there somewhere. Enjoy, if you will.”
