As featured on the Golden Apples THE FLOWERS OF HELL have just recently played at the totally amazing Liverpool International Festival of Psychedelia are a trans-continental group who deal in beautiful, mesmeric, sweeping vistas of orchestral chamber pop. Greg Jarvis’ band of musicians is split between Toronto and London, and their lush spacey covers and original compositions have drawn praise from Lou Reed and Spacemen 3, as well as the scientists at NASA’s mission control who’ve synched some of their music to their shuttle footage.

The group are currently putting the finishing touches to an experimental symphony that has been six years in the making, guided by Jarvis’ synaesthetic ‘sound painting’ abilities. The project nearly came to an end when Jarvis was kidnapped by a rebel army in Papua New Guinea who thought him a spy. The Flowers Of Hell’s ‘Symphony No. 1’ – their fifth LP – will be released in late 2015 and will be based around the central theme of ‘Aria 51’.

An excerpt of perfect synaesthesia here with aria 51 and opt out as played on the Golden Apples of the Sun Here
